Operation
3.1
Introduction
This section contains information concerning the use of the Web Browser interface (for
all supported Harris transmitters) that is provided with all eCDi™ units. The eCDi™
can be accessed with either Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape Navigator 7.0 or
higher. A complete list of computer requirements is given in Section 1 of this manual,
see "1.9 Remote Computer Requirements" on page 1-7.
NOTE:
The web browser must be Java enabled. The Java plug-in is already installed on
eCDi™ and will automatically be downloaded to any computer that connects to
the unit (if the plug-in is not already installed). See “"Figure 2-19 Java 2 Runtime
Environment Plug-in" on page 2-29. The plug-in must be downloaded and
installed before logging in to the eCDi™ .
Due to the fact that the screens are different for each individual transmitter, this section
will focus on navigation and the common parts of the web browser screens. The details
and controls available for each transmitter will necessarily be different, but have more
to do with operating knowledge of the transmitter than the interface used to view the
information.

OVERALL NETWORK SECURITY IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CUSTOMER.
INTEGRATION OF THE UNIT SHOULD BE BEHIND THE CUSTOMERS FIREWALL
WITH ACCESS THROUGH A VPN (VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK).
