Keyer Transition Controls
Each keyer has its own mix transition system, separate from the main M/E
transition mechanism. Individually numbered
Key 1-4 Mix
buttons located
to the right of the
Transition Lever Arm
control these transitions. These buttons
can directly change the output of the M/E.
The
Key Mix
buttons can be used to mix a key on or off. The transition will
mix to the opposite state (mix on if the key is off, mix off if the key is on).
Key Mix
button tallies do not indicate whether a key is on or off, but light to
indicate a key mix transition is in progress.
The same keyer cannot be used for both a main transition and a keyer mix
simultaneously. For this reason, the
Key Mix
buttons are inactive when a
main transition is actually in progress. The
Key Mix
buttons remain active,
however, when that keyer has been selected for the next main transition (as
long as the main transition hasn’t been initiated). While an individual
Key Mix
transition is in progress, the
Key 1-4
transition element buttons
involved will go low tally to show a conflict exists. If a main transition is
initiated in this state, the main transition will proceed but that keyer will be
excluded from that transition. Each independent keyer has its own mix
transition rate. See
for more information.
Note that
Preset Black
has higher priority than the keyers. If
Key Mix
is
pressed while in preset black, the program output will remain black but the
state of the key will change (shown by the Key On indicator lights) and the
change will become evident when the preset black transition completes.
Transition Rates
Auto transition rates for M/E 1, 2, and 3 are set using the respective
Trans Rate
button and keypad located on that M/E’s E-MEM subpanel.
Rates for PGM PST are set using the
Trans Rate
button and keypad located
on the Master E-MEM subpanel.
When a
Trans Rate
button is pressed, the
Auto Trans
and the four
Key 1-4 Mix
buttons will flash and the E-MEM readout prompts for the rate to be set.
Pressing one of the flashing buttons delegates the E MEM keypad to that
transition rate and its current rate appears on the readout. A time entry is
then expected on the keypad in seconds, frames, field format. See
for more details.
Other Transition Control Interactions
The
Transition Lever Arm
can be used in combination with the
Auto Trans
or
Cut
button to perform a main transition. For example, you can start the transi-
tion by moving the lever off its limit, and finish the transition by pressing
Auto Trans
. The transition is completed at a rate proportional to the rate set
for the transition.
