Holding down a source select button when recalling an E-MEM register
performs a source override. That source will be held on that bus even if a
register is recalled and/or run that specifies a different source.
Note Different types of control are available for choosing which sources are
subject to change during a Recall: Source Holds (
E-MEM – Source Holds
Menu on page 243 ).
Unshifted and Shifted Sources
Of the available sources, up to 23 can be mapped to the unshifted source
selection buttons, and 23 to shifted buttons (
Button Mapping Menu on
page 178 ). The remaining available sources can be selected via an E-MEM
recall or using the Source Select menu. The re-entry buttons are fixed and
cannot be mapped.

Three modes of shift operation are available, Normal, Latched, and
No Shift, set in the Shift Preferences menu (see
Shift Preferences Menu on
page 179) . In Normal mode, when the Shift button is not pressed, the row of
source selection buttons accesses inputs assigned to crosspoints 1 to 23.
When the
Shift button is held down, it lights and the row of crosspoints now
accesses inputs assigned to crosspoints 24 through 46. If a selection is made
on the shifted bus, the
Shift button remains lit to indicate the tallied input is
shifted. If another selection is made without holding down the
Shift
button,
the row returns to an unshifted state and the Shift button light goes off.
In Latched mode, when the
Shift
button is pressed it latches to the shifted
state. This operation is similar to the Caps Lock function on a standard key-
board. Any subsequent crosspoint selections will be on the shifted bus until
