5.5 Setting the Communication Conditions
When your plotter s connected va an RS-232C cable to a computer, be sure to set dentcal communcaton
condtons n the software and OS communcaton settngs for the data transfer rate (baud rate), data length,
and party. Ths secton descrbes the settngs on the plotter sde. For settng nstructons for the software
and OS sde, consult the respectve user's manuals. Three groups of communcaton settngs can be
completed, allowng you to swtch to a dfferent group of settngs n a sngle operaton.
(1) Press the
[PAUSE] key
to select PAUSE status.
(2) Press the
[NEXT] key
repeatedly untl the followng menu s dsplayed.

(3) Press the
[F1] key
(INTERFACE) to dsplay the menu shown below.

(4) Press the
[F2] key
(RS-232C) to dsplay the menu for selecton of the communcaton settngs group.

(5) The group numbers are dsplayed n the bottom row. Use the
[ ]
or
[ ]
key
to select a group.
Setting range: 1, 2, or 3
(6) After selectng the desred group No., press the
[ENTER] key
to confirm your choice. The communication conditions
settngs are dsplayed.

(7) [F1] shows the transfer rate (baud rate), [F2] the data length, [F3] the party, and [F4] the handshake settng values
that are currently selected. Use the
[F1]
to
[F4] keys
to select the desred parameter, then use the
[ ]
or
[ ]
key
to select the parameter detals (see below). Make sure the settng detals at your plotter are dentcal wth the
software or OS settngs.
Baud rate: 19200, 9600, 4800, 2400, 1200, 600, 300 (bps)
Parity: N (None), E (Even), O (Odd)
Data length: 7 BITS, 8 BITS
Handshake: H (Hardwire), X (X-on/X-off), E (ENQ/ACK; selectable in HP-GL command mode only)
After completng each settng tem, press the
[ENTER] key
to confirm your selection. To cancel your selection, press
the
[NEXT] key
.
(8) Press the
[PAUSE] key
to cancel PAUSE mode.
