3.9 Running a Cutting Test
A cutting test is performed to check whether the specified cutting conditions are suitable for the tool and
meda beng used. Perform the test that s approprate for the tool that you are usng.
The pen carriage starts moving as soon as a cutting test is selected. To avoid injury to yourself or damage to the
plotter, keep your hands, face and other obstacles out of the vicinity of any moving parts.
Cutter Pen Test
Ths test allows you to check the sutablty of your cuttng condtons before you actually begn cuttng. If
the medum s not cut cleanly or the corners are rounded, adjust the settngs as descrbed n Secton 3.10,
"Meda and Cuttng Condtons".
(1) Load a medum for the cuttng test.
(2) Mount a cutter pen.
(3) Wth the plotter n Ready status, press a key from
[F1] to [F4] to select the COND No. for the cuttng test.
(4) Use the [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] keys to move the pen carrage (the tp of the tool selected by the current settng) to the
startng poston for the cuttng test.
(5) Press the [TEST] key to dsplay the cuttng test selecton screen.

(6) Press the [F1] key (TEST1) or [F3] key (TEST2) to cut a test pattern.
TEST1 : Press the [F1] key to cut a sngle test pattern.
TEST2 : Press the [F3] key to cut three test patterns (the first triangle is cut with the specified force -1, the second
triangle is cut with the specified force, and the third triangle is cut with the specified force +1).
Insufficient offset
Raise the Offset value
(+1 to +5)
Appropriate offset Excessive offset
Lower the Offset value
(-1 to -5)
Check the cut test pattern(s). If the corners of the trangles or the squares are rounded, the offset settng s too low.
Conversely, f the corners are too ponted, the offset settng s too hgh.
(7) Press the [CONDITIONS] key and adjust your settngs.
(8) Repeat Steps (4) to (7) untl you acheve the desred results.
(9) When the results are satsfactory, press the
[ENTER] key or the [NEXT] key .
Creasing Tool Test
Ths test allows you to check the check the sutablty of the creasng force. Check the depth of the creases
and adjust the creasng force as requred.
(1) Load a medum for the creasng tool test.
(2) Mount the creasng tool.
