Assembling the pen
1. Insert the KB130 seres ballpont pen cartrdge nto the
PHP33-BALL or PHP32-BALL plunger man unt, and then
screw on the plunger end fitting.
2. If the pen s left unused for a long perod of tme, the pen tp
wll dry out. Test the pen on some scrap paper to check that
the ink is flowing well before using it in the plotter.
Usage precautions
The ballpont pen’s nherent characterstcs may cause scratchy
plotted lnes. Please follow the gudelnes below.
1. Use coated (glossy) paper only. Scratchng occurs more
easily on tracing paper or polyester film.
2. If scratchng does occur, reduce the plottng speed to around
20 cm/s.
3. Avoid replotting over the same line. Paper fibers may become
caught n the pen tp and cause scratchy plottng.
4. Use only KB130 seres ballpont pens.
5. Clean out the plunger regularly. Dust or drt wll affect the up/
down movement of the pen, and adversely affect the plotted
results.

Assembling the pen (7 steps)
1. Screw the pen tp nto the nk reservor, usng the cap shown
in the figure on the left.
2. To draw nk nto the pen tp, hold the pen wth ts tp
downward and shake t gently up and down.
3. Test the pen on some scrap paper. If the ink does not flow
well, repeat Step 2.
4. Screw the plunger nto Plunger A as far as t wll go.
5. Finally, screw the pen firmly into the plunger.
6. Remove the pen from the plunger and put the cap on after
use.
7. If the ink does not flow smoothly after some period of use,
gently tap the bottom of the pen a couple of tmes untl the nk
flows down into the pen tip. (Be careful. Ink may splatter from
the pen tp.)
