Using a pair of truarc pliers to remove the snap ring
from the crankshaft.
INSPECTION
Check to be sure the spring has good
tension. Check to be sure the washers are
not distorted. The quadrant ring should be
DISCARDED and a new one installed.
Good shop practice dictates the quadrant
seal be replaced each time the lower seal is
serviced.
Check the groove in the lower end of the
crankshaft where the truarc ring fits. If the

If the groove is badly corroded, the crank-

the top seal. The seal is pressed inside the
lower bearing. Therefore, it is necessary to
