MAIN BEARINGS
Note
Main bearings must always be
changed in pairs and must be fitted
in the right direction in the
respective casing bushes. Inspect
the bearing to establish the side (1)
where the thickness (S) of the outer
ring is lower. The bearing must be
fitted in the corresponding bush,
keeping the side (1) on the outside.
This is the side which will contact
the crankshaft.
To change the bearings, proceed as
follows:
●
Heat the casing in an oven to
100°C
.
❍
Remove the old bearing using a
drift and a hammer.
▲
While the casing is still hot, fit the
new bearing squarely into its seat.
Use a tubular drift and ensure that
you only exert pressure on the outer
bearing ring.
●
Allow the casing to cool down and
then check that the bearing is
securely fixed into its bush.
After fitting the new main bearings,
calculate the total shimming “S”
required using the following formula:
•
S = P1+P2–l+Pmt
Where:
P1
= clutch-side casing depth
P2
= chain-side casing depth
l
= distance between the contact
surfaces of the inner ring of the
crankshaft bearings.
Pmt
= average theoretical preload
(
0.15
mm
).
To align the crankshaft it will be
necessary to know the size of the
shims “S1” and “S2”.
Calculate these as follows:
•
S1 = P1+
•
S2 = S–S1
Where:
S1
= clutch-side shimming
S2
= chain-side shimming
Spare sets of shims are available
with shims from
1.9
to
2.55 mm
in
steps of
0.05 mm
. Once casings
have been closed, fit special tool

between
connecting rods in order to take up
any axial play. Then take a reading.
Check that the distance between the
outer side of the con-rod small end
(small hole) and the outer centering
generating line (cylinder diameter)
is the same between the two
cylinders, with a tolerance of ±
0.1
mm
. If this is not the case, divide
the total thickness, but keep it
unchanged, between the clutch side
and chain side. Then repeat check.
CUSCINETTI DI BANCO
Note
I cuscinetti di banco devono
sempre essere sostituiti in coppia e
devono essere installati nel giusto
verso nelle rispettive bussole dei
semicarter. Osservando il cuscinetto
riconoscere il lato (1) in cui lo spes-
sore (S) dell’anello esterno risulta
minore. Il cuscinetto dovrà essere
montato nella relativa bussola mante-
nendo il lato (1) all’esterno. Infatti,
quest’ultimo, sarà il lato che andrà poi
in appoggio sull’albero motore.
Per sostituire i cuscinetti è
necessario:
●
Riscaldare il semicarter in forno
alla temperatura di
100°C
;
❍
Rimuovere il cuscinetto originale
mediante tampone e martello;
▲
Installare il nuovo cuscinetto
(mentre il semicarter è ancora ad
alta temperatura) perfettamente in
squadro con l’asse dell’alloggiamen-
to, utilizzando un tampone tubolare
che eserciti la pressione solo
sull’anello esterno del cuscinetto;
●
Lasciare raffreddare il semicarter
ed accertarsi che il cuscinetto risulti
saldamente fissato nella relativa
bussola.
Dopo aver installato i cuscinetti di
banco nuovi applicare la seguente
formula per determinare la quota
“S” totale delle spessorazioni:
•
S = P1+P2–l+Pmt
Dove:
P1
= profondità carter lato frizione,
P2
= profondità carter lato catena,
l
= larghezza tra le superfici di
appoggio dell’anello interno dei
cuscinetti sull’albero motore
Pmt
= precarico medio teorico
(
0,15
mm
).
Considerando l’allineamento
dell’albero, è necessario conoscere
l’entità delle singole spessorazioni
“S1” e “S2”.
•
S1 = P1 +
•
S2 = S–S1
Dove:
S1
= spessorazione lato frizione
S2
= spessorazione lato catena
Sono disponibili a ricambio rasamenti
di spessore da
1,9
a
2,55 mm
ad
intervalli di
0,05 mm
. Una volta
chiuso il carter, inserire tra le bielle
l’attrezzo speciale cod.
88713.1309
per annullare il gioco assiale e
misurare. Verificare che la distanza tra
il piano esterno del piede di biella
(foro piccolo) e la generatrice esterna
del centraggio (diametro del cilindro)
sia la stessa tra i due cilindri a meno
della tolleranza ±
0,1 mm
. In caso
contrario suddividere adeguatamen-
te lo spessore totale, senza cambiare
tale valore, tra lato frizione e lato
catena e ripetere il controllo.
