Layer 2 features are supported on Dell Networking OS.
Manage the MAC Address Table
Dell Networking OS provides the following management activities for the MAC address table.
•
Clearing the MAC Address Table
•
Setting the Aging Time for Dynamic Entries
•
Configuring a Static MAC Address
•
Displaying the MAC Address Table
Clearing the MAC Address Table
You may clear the MAC address table of dynamic entries.
To clear a MAC address table, use the following command.
• Clear a MAC address table of dynamic entries.
EXEC Privilege mode
clear mac-address-table {dynamic | sticky} {
address
| all | interface | vlan}
–
address
: deletes the specified entry.
–
all
: deletes all dynamic entries.
–
interface
: deletes all entries for the specified interface.
–
vlan
: deletes all entries for the specified VLAN.
Setting the Aging Time for Dynamic Entries
Learned MAC addresses are entered in the table as dynamic entries, which means that they are subject to
aging.
For any dynamic entry, if no packet arrives on the switch with the MAC address as the source or
destination address within the timer period, the address is removed from the table. The default aging time
is
1800 seconds
.
To disable a MAC address and specify an aging time, use the following commands.
• Disable MAC address aging for all dynamic entries.
CONFIGURATION mode
mac-address-table aging-time 0
• Specify an aging time.
