Sending speed
The rate at which faxes are transmitted through the phone line. See also
bps
(bits per seconds).
Serif
Short lines crossing and embellishing the ends of a letter’s main strokes.
Smoothing mode
A printer mode in which the printer enhances the horizontal resolution
of black ink. The printer automatically initiates this mode to produce
720
×
360 dpi for black ink.
STANDARD
A document setting for sending normal typewritten or printed
documents containing only text and no drawings, photographs, or
illustrations.
Standby
The mode in which the MultiPASS C20 is on and ready to use. All
operations start from standby mode when the LCD displays the time
and receiving mode.
Subtractive colours
The three primary colours (cyan, yellow, and magenta); when combined
through a subtractive process give a spectrum of colours.

Tone/pulse setting
The ability to set the MultiPASS C20 to match the telephone dialling
system your telephone line uses: touch-tone or rotary pulse.
TONE
A button that allows you to temporarily switch to touch-tone from
pulse dialling. In some countries, on-line data services may require that
you use tone dialling.
Transaction number
A unique number assigned to each fax document sent (TX NO.) or
received (RX NO.) by the MultiPASS C20 and used to identify that
particular fax document.
