The system's sensors, located on
the rear bumper, are used to
detect the distance to an object
behind the vehicle.
In order for the sensors to detect
an object, the following conditions
must be met:
• The object must be at least
25.4 cm above ground level.
• The object must be below the
top of the vehicle.
• Vehicle speed must be less than
8 km/h.
In order for a rear sensor to detect
an object behind of the vehicle,
the object must within 2.5 m of
the rear bumper.
To ensure proper operation of the
parking assist system, make sure
the sensors on the rear bumper are
free from ice, snow, mud and dirt.
When the vehicle speed is less than
8 km/h and you shift into reverse
gear, the system will turn on auto-
matically. A single chime will
sound to let you know that it is
working.
The system uses chimes to warn
you as the rear of the vehicle
approaches an object.
The interval between chimes
becomes shorter as the vehicle
gets closer to the object.
When the distance between the
rear of the vehicle and the object is
less than 30 cm, continuous
chimes will sound.
The system can be disabled by
pressing the rear parking assist
button located near the sound
system.
The indicator light will come on
when the system is turned off and
you shift into
R
(Reverse).
If you disable the system, the
PARKING ASSIST OFF
(parking
assist off) message will appear in
the driver information center
display.
