Passenger Safety Belt 
Reminder Light

The passenger safety belt reminder 
light is located on the overhead 
console.

Several seconds after the engine is 
started, a chime will come on for 
several seconds to remind the 
front passenger to fasten the safety 
belt. The passenger safety belt 
light will also come on and stay on 
for several seconds, then flash for 
several seconds, and finally it will 
shine steadily again. If the passen-
ger's belt is buckled, neither the 
chime nor the light will come on.

The chime and light will repeat if 
the passenger remains unbuckled 
and the vehicle is in motion.

The passenger safety belt 
warning light and chime may 
turn on if an object such as a brief-
case or grocery bag is placed on 
the front passenger’s seat. Remove 
the object or buckle the safety belt 
to turn off the light and chime.
