You should normally leave the
system in its normal operating
mode, however make sure to turn
the system off if the vehicle is stuck
in mud, sand or snow.
See "If Your Vehicle Gets Stuck" in
Section 5.
It may also be necessary to turn off
the system when driving in
extreme off-road conditions where
high wheel spin is required.
Press the Stabilitrak button to turn
the system off.
The button is located on the
instrument panel to the right of
the sound system.
The Stabilitrak light should turn
on.
The
TRACTION CONTROL OFF
(traction control off) message will
appear on the Driver Information
Center.
To return the system to its normal
operating mode, press the button
again.
When Stabilitrak is turned off, only
the brake-traction control portion
of traction control will work.
Engine speed management will be
disabled.
Brake-traction control may
activate more frequently.
NOTICE
Do not allow the wheel(s) of
one axle to spin excessively
when the Stabilitrak, antilock
brake and brake system
warning lights are on and a
Stabilitrak/Traction Control
message is displayed.
Otherwise, the transfer case
could be damaged.
This could lead to costly repairs
not covered by your warranty.
Immediately reduce engine
power until the lights and
messages are no longer
displayed.
