Starting and Operating Instructions
. . . 254
If the vehicle is left running, it will
automatically shut off after
10 minutes unless you extend the
time by repeating the remote-start
procedure.
The remote-start engine runtime
can only be extended once.
After two vehicle remote-starts, or
one remote start with an
extension, insert the key in the
ignition and start the engine.
During remote-start engine
runtime, do the following to
transition the vehicle from
remote-start operation to normal
vehicle operation:
1. Enter the vehicle.
2. Insert the key into the ignition
switch and turn it to
ON
.
CAUTION
Engine exhaust can kill. It
contains carbon monoxide
(CO) gas, which you can't
see or smell. It can cause
unconsciousness and death.
Do not idle the engine in a
closed-in place, such as the
garage. Carbon monoxide
(CO) gas could get into your
vehicle.
To end remote-start engine runt-
ime without transitioning to
normal vehicle operation, do any
of the following:
• Aim the transmitter at the
vehicle and press the remote-
start button until the parking
lights turn off.
Your transmitter’s range may
be less while the vehicle is
running. You may need to be
closer to your vehicle to turn
the vehicle off using the
remote-starter than you were
to turn it on.
For information on other
conditions which can affect the
performance of the transmitter,
see "Transmitter Range" earlier
in this section.
• Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
• Turn the ignition on, and then
off.
