9-10  Upgrading Your Server 

The hard disk drive bays are connected to the Internal RAID Controller when the server is shipped. How to use the hard disk 
drives in a RAID System is described below. 

 

 

 

Internal RAID Controller

When using the Internal RAID Controller: 

Use WebBIOS or Universal RAID Utility to build, configure, and manage the RAID System. See "RAID System 
Configuration" in Chapter 4 and "Universal RAID Utility" in Chapter 6.

When using an optional RAID Controller (SAS CTRL 8708EM2): 

Use WebBIOS or Universal RAID Utility to build, configure, and manage the RAID System. Refer to the manual 
coming with the optional RAID Controller, or see "Universal RAID Utility" in Chapter 6. 

A dummy tray is installed in the hard disk drive bays except the one with Port 0 defined. The purpose of a dummy tray is to 
increase the cooling effect in the server. Install a dummy tray in slots not containing a hard disk drive.
