6.9 Compressed air supply
Compressor:
The compressor on the engine supplies compressed air. The compressor is lubricated by the en-
gine oil. The compressor is cooled by the engine coolant. Check the condition of the coolant hoses.
Check the condition of the air hoses in between the compressor and the air dryer. Replace the
hoses if necessary.
Compressed air tanks:
WARNING
Use safety goggles. If any dirty
water condensate gets in your
eyes: immediately rinse your eyes
with plenty of water. Get medical
aid if eye irritation occurs.
Drain the water condensate every 50 operating
hours. Replace the air dryer cartridge if necessary.
Draining the water condensate:
Pull the ring [1] sideways or push the valve [2] IN
until the water is removed.
Air dryer cartridge:
A replacement kit contains 1 car-
tridge and 1 O-ring.
Replace the cartridge 1x per year.
Replacing the cartridge:
1. Start the engine.
2. Lower the fill pump [3] down.
3. Turn the engine off and take the ignition key
with you.
4. Exhaust all tanks: pull the ring [1] sideways
or push the valve [2] IN until the air has es-
caped.
5. Remove the old cartridge [4] with a filter
wrench.
6. Remove the old O-ring [5].
7. Clean the contact surface [6].
8. Install the new O-ring [7].
9. Apply grease on the O-ring [7], on the screw
thread [8] and on the seal [9] of the new car-
tridge. The grease makes future cartridge
removal easier.
10. Screw on the cartridge until the seal [9]
touches the dryer. Tighten the cartridge with
an additional ½ turn.
