PBD-ATS

Backplane Card

The PBD-ATS communicates mainly with the MPG-ATS card, so the HDLC, PCM

Clock & Synchronization signals, as well as Power Supplies Alarm signals are

transferred between these cards. Data and signaling communication is established via

redundant streamlined FC19 cables that connect these cards.

The PBD-ATS resides in the rear panel of the peripheral cabinet backplane, on the

back side of slot 1 and 2, of the even numbered peripheral shelves, where the PB-ATS

card(s) are installed.

Card Time Slots Configurations

The PBD-ATS card is factory set to supply 512 or 128 time slots to the connected

Peripheral Shelf Unit.

Peripheral shelves are factory set, configured to work with 512 time slots per shelf. In

field upgrades, the PBD-ATS works with 128 time slot shelves. This configuration is

automatically identified by the system.

Communication between Common Control Cards

Card Relationship

The Coral system main processor, MCP-ATS, maintains a constant dialog with the

peripheral devices. The MCP-ATS is interfaced by the 32GC card. The peripheral

devices are interfaced by the PB-ATS cards. The 32GC card signaling is carried out

by the MPG-ATS card, located on the backplane behind it, on the rear side of the

Common Control shelf. The PB-ATS card communications are carried via the

PBD-ATS card, connected to the backplane behind it, on the rear side of slot 1 and 2.
