Coral FlexiCom 6000 Installation Manual

Cabinet Descrip

tion

The Coral system uses two digital trunk cards as primary and secondary

synchronization sources. The system synchronization signals are carried through two

H-43 cables. The Coral FlexiCom 6000 system provides two additional

synchronization connections, Third and External which are not used.

Primary Synchronization Source Connection

The primary synchronization signal cable is connected between the P20 connector on

the MPG-ATS and the digital trunk card that has been chosen to be the Primary

Synchronization source via an H-43 cable. Conventionally, this Primary

Synchronization Source is a digital card located in Slot 4 labeled PRM SYNC of the

peripheral shelf, however, any digital trunk slot card is acceptable. P20 is connected to

PIN 9 of the digital trunk card’s backplane J-connector (i.e., behind the slot) which is J7

for slot 4, see

Figure 6-25

Secondary Synchronization Source Connection

The secondary synchronization signal cable is connected between the P19 connector

on the MPG-ATS and the digital trunk card that has been chosen to be the Secondary

Synchronization source via an H-43 cable. Conventionally, this Secondary

Synchronization Source is a digital card located in Slot 4 labeled SEC SYNC of the

peripheral shelf, however, any digital trunk slot card is acceptable. P19 is connected

to PIN 9 of the digital trunk card’s backplane J-connector (i.e. behind the slot) which

is J7 for slot 4, see

Figure 6-25

Third and External Synchronization Source Connection

The

Third

and

External

synchronization source connections expand the system

synchronization capabilities. They are the P18 and P17 connectors, respectively. The

External P17 connector also may be connected to an external clock source.

These connectors are not currently used.
