per Unit.

512 - Coral FlexiCom 6000 Peripheral shelves
The PB-ATS card defines its time slot operation automatically at 128 time slots or at
512 time slots according to the type of backplane installed on the peripheral shelf unit.
The Coral FlexiCom 6000 incorporates only backplanes which use all 512 time slots.
Peripheral shelves from upgraded Coral FlexiCom 5000 systems, may use backplanes
that accept only 128 time slots. The PB-ATS automatically recognizes this
configuration and adjusts itself accordingly. The time slots arriving from the PB-ATS
serve the entire peripheral shelf unit, i.e. the even as well as the connected odd shelf.
Each Coral FlexiCom 6000 peripheral shelf unit may function with a different number
of time slots per unit, i.e. Unit 1 may accept 512 time slots, while Unit 2 accepts 128
time slots.
The existence of a PB-ATS card and its status are reported to the 32GC card via the
FC19 redundant cabling to the MPG-ATS.
The number of time slots used per Peripheral Shelf Unit may also be viewed either
from the
Sysgen, 5
-PI branch, UNITS parameter or by viewing the Unit’s PB-ATS
front panel where a time slot 128 or 512 indicator is lit.
Time Slot Transmission
The PB-ATS card transmits 512 time slots PCM at the rate of 8.192 Mbps from the
32GC control card. A rate conversion circuit converts it to a rate of 4.096 Mbps, which
is suitable for the peripheral cards. The conversion circuit also changes the 4.096
Mbps rate of the PCM arriving from the peripheral cards to a rate of 8.192 Mbps,
which is the operating rate of the 32GC card.
In the 128 time slot operation mode, the PB-ATS card only switches the first 128 time
slots (of the arriving 512) between the peripheral shelf unit and the 32GC.
Special Time Slot Cases
Peripheral Shelf Unit #3 is allotted a maximum of 384 time slots out of the 512 time
slots for transmission. The first two quartets of slots for peripheral cards in each shelf
of Unit #3 accepts 64 time slots each for transmission, instead of the 128 time slots,
and similar to all other quartets of peripheral slots in the system accepts 128 time slots
each for reception.
