Peripheral Interface Card Test

After the software has been installed and initialized:

Check the position of Shared Service and Peripheral Interface cards that will

be inserted into the system card cage. Observe any order previously directed

by a System Designer or any established convention of the distributor. Use the

Card Placement Diagram, as described in

Peripheral Card Placement beginning on

page 2-33

Fully insert the Peripheral Power Supply units into their slots if this has not

already been done, and turn them on.

Handling Procedures - Each card contains circuitry which is sensitive to electrostatic

discharge (ESD). Failure to observe safe handling procedures for static-sensitive

circuitry may result in permanent damage to a card.

Note that there is an anti-static wrist strap at the top of the cabinet above the card cage.

This wrist strap should be worn while inserting, removing, or handling any card in the

system.

Before proceeding, verify that all the Peripheral Power Supply Units (PPS and RPS) are

turned off!

Turn on the PPS and RPS units only after powering the Control Shelf and verifying that

the Control Shelf has initialized properly, otherwise the cards in the peripheral shelves

may not initialize.
