Orbit
–
Measures the path of a shaft centerline motion during rotation. Parameters for
Non ROUTE
orbit measurements are configured in the
Nonroute Orbit Setup
screen,
detailed later in this section.
HFD
– Measures the dynamic high frequency input from an accelerometer for
assessing the condition of rolling element ball or roller bearings. The HFD
measurement has a detected overall value from 5 KHz to 60 KHz but does not record a
spectrum. Detection type set to RMS.
To quickly perform one of the pre-set measurements:
•
In the Non ROUTE screen, use the arrow buttons to highlight the desired pre
-set
measurement and press Enter. The selected measurement’s data display screen
appears.
If you select the Orbit option, a setu
p screen displays.
•
With the measurement’s data screen displayed, press an Enter button to save the
Non ROUTE
measurement’s data. Each
Non ROUTE
measurement is sequentially
given a numerical name, starting at 1.
Orbit Operation
Orbit Overview
An “orbit” measures the path of a shaft centerline motion during rotation.
Typically, machines such as large centrifugal compressors, primary and secondary
steam turbines, and large gearboxes do not have standby systems available and rarely
have spare rotors available. Machinery that uses pressure fed sleeve bearings is
normally both critical to plant operations and very expensive to repair. It is therefore
essential that these rotors are effectively monitored, protected, and maintained to the
highest standard.
