7. Remove scanner.
l
Grasp both sides of the scanner and remove. Place
your fingers under the two dovetail rails as shown in
the photo.
l
Use care because the scanner is heavy.
l
Preferably place the scanner right in front of the AFM
and then pick it up again to move it to its storage loc-
ation.
8. Remove any cantilever holder from the scanner stage as follows:
l
For a standard scanner, see steps 5–7 of Loading the cantilever and sample on a standard
scanner on page 198 .

For an environmental scanner, see steps 5–8 of Loading the cantilever and sample on an
environmental scanner on page 205
9. Store the cantilever holder in its accessory kit box.
10. Ensure that any fingerprints are cleaned from the scanner.
11. Place the scanner in an anti-static bag and tape the bag shut.
Kapton tape is recommended.
