User Guide

3. Insert the replacement laser diode.

l

Push the laser diode module inwards with your fin-
ger with moderate force, while rotating the hex key
clockwise to tighten the new laser diode module, as
shown in the photograph to the right.

l

Replace the cover plate that was removed in step 1.

Tip:

Test that the new laser diode module works

properly before replacing the cover plate!

l

Replace the optics cover, if desired.

16.4.3 Focusing the blue laser spot

After installation of a blue laser module, the blue laser spot must be focused such that its focal
plane matches the focal plane of the infrared laser. The following procedure ensures the best focus.

1. Enable blueDrive.

2. Prepare for the blue laser focus.

l

Focus the objective onto the back of a cantilever chip
(the large body that you hold with tweezers when
handling the cantilever).

l

Position the infrared laser just underneath or above
a speck of dirt, which should be in sharp focus.

l

Move the blueDrive spot location such that it is in
line with the speck of dirt and the infrared laser, as
shown in the image to the right.
