User Guide

Engaging The Cantilever On The Sample

Prerequisite: The sample must be loaded and the cantilever positioned about 1 mm above the

sample.

Loading the cantilever and sample on an environmental scanner on page 205

Before you can perform imaging, you must engage the cantilever on the sample surface. This task
comprises three parts:

1. Bringing the cantilever tip to the sample.

2. Tuning the cantilever and setting scan parameters.

3. Landing the tip.

24.1 Bringing the cantilever close to the sample
