Cypher SPM

User Guide

4. Pull the scanner forward.

Pull the scanner forward gently and stop when it is
about halfway out.

If you continue pulling the scanner, at some point
you will feel resistance and should pull no further.

5. Familiarize yourself with the sample area.

While it may look solid, the scanner stage moves the sample in the X, Y, and Z directions imper-
ceptibly up to 40 μm.

6. Release the cantilever holder.

Locate the tool with yellow tip in the chassis to the
left of the scanner.

Use tool to loosen the two screws clamping the can-
tilever holder. One turn counterclockwise should be
enough - do not completely remove the screws.

Replace the tool.
