Quick Reference to Configuring Expansion Devices
IF YOU ARE
CONFIGURING
THEN
PCI Expansion
Device
1. Install, move, or remove the device in your system (see
Chapter 7 for procedures).
2. If you need to allocate I/O resources, open the Setup
utility (see Chapter 3). Select “Advanced” from the Setup
utility main menu, and enable the “PCI Devices - Combed I/O
Resource Allocation” parameter from the Advanced menu.
3. Load the ECU utility (see “How to Load the ECU” in this
chapter).
4. Select “Configure Computer or Peripheral Devices” from
the ECU main menu. Your system automatically loads PCI
configuration information.
5. Check or change your configuration (see “Configure
Computer or Peripheral Devices - Step 3: View or Edit
Details” in this chapter).
6. Save your changes and exit the ECU utility (see
“Configure Computer or Peripheral Devices - Step 5: Save
and Exit” in this chapter.
Plug and Play
ISA Board
1. If your system has a Plug and Play O/S system installed,
enable “Plug and Play O/S” in the Setup utility. (See Chapter
3, “Setting System Parameters.“ Select the “Advanced” menu
from the Setup main menu and enable the “Plug and Play
O/S” parameter.)
2. Install the Plug and Play board in your system (see
Chapter 7 for procedures).
3. Load the ECU utility (see “How to Load the ECU” in this
chapter). Note: do
not use the ICU utility or any other utility
shipped with the Plug and Play board. Doing so may cause
resource conflicts.
4. Select “Configure Computer or Peripheral Devices” from
the ECU main menu. Your system automatically loads Plug
and Play configuration information.
