Chapter 2: Installation
Installing the DALLIS Unit(s)

Equipping the 3RU Frame

18 single width DALLIS I/O card slots are available within the

frame. Double width I/O cards (8GU) occupy

two slots; single width I/O cards (4GU) occupy one slot.

Slot M1

– fit the main master board here.

·

Slot M2

– reserved for a redundant master board.

·

Slots 1-18

– available for I/O cards.

Note that the DALLIS will only work once slot M1 is fitted with a master board. When fitting a redundant master
board, it must be of the same type fitted to slot M1.

Note that the

counts slots from 0 upwards (e.g. physical slot 1 = slot 0 in the logfile).

Not every interface card can be used in every slot. As a general rule, if an interface card is permitted within

, then it can be fitted to your system. Please also refer to the

DALLIS I/O Card Compatibility

table.

The type of DALLIS master board, and hence the

, determines the maximum number of audio

channels to/from the Nova: up to 60 (MADI) or 128 (RAVENNA).
