MIDI/Tempo Sync function
The MIDI/Tempo Sync function can be used with most
effects that have an LFO, such as “016:Stereo Wah/Auto
Wah”, and with some delay-type effects such as “091:L/C/R
BPM Delay”. The function can also be used with the
Common FX LFO. You can use this to apply tempo-
synchronized modulation. Also, if you specify the delay time
in terms of a note value, the setting will follow any changes
you make to the tempo of a wave sequence, X-Y envelope,
step sequencer, drum track pattern or sequencer, which is
useful such as when you’re playing live.
Parameters that feature a MIDI/Tempo Sync function are
indicated by a
symbol on the right side of the
parameter table for each effect.
Example 1: LFO
“MIDI/Tempo Sync” On
“Base Note” 1/4“Times” x1
In this case, a single LFO cycle is set to the length of a single
quarter note.
If “BPM” is set to “MIDI”, the LFO cycle will synchronize
to the tempo of a wave sequence, X-Y envelope, step
sequencer or sequencer (or to an external MIDI clock). If the
“BPM” is within 40–240, the value specified here is used.
Example 2: Delay time
“L Delay Base Note” 1/8 “Times” x1
“R Delay Base Note” 1/16 “Times” x3
In this case, the left channel’s delay time is set to the length
of a single eighth note, and the right channel’s delay time is
set to the length of three sixteenth notes.
If “BPM” is set to “MIDI”, the LFO cycle will synchronize
to the tempo of a wave sequence, X-Y envelope, step
sequencer or sequencer (or to an external MIDI clock). If the
“BPM” is within 40–300, the value specified here is used.
If the combined tempo, “Base Note” and “Times” causes the
maximum delay time to be exceeded, “Time Over? >
OVER!” will be displayed. Change the settings so that the
message disappears. (The maximum delay time depends on
the effect type.)
