Hold Time
[0…60 seconds]
Hold Time
controls the duration of Smooth Sound
Transitions. It sets how long reverbs, delays, and note
releases continue to ring out after a new sound has been
selected. The timer starts after all notes from the previous
sound are no longer being held down, and the sustain pedal
is released.
For other modes, the Global
Hold Time
parameter is used.
In Set Lists, however, you can control this separately for
every Slot. For instance, you might want a reverb to ring out
a long time for one sound, but delays to fade away quickly
for another.
Note that the Hold Time set here applies to the notes and
effects of the current Slot, when transitioning into the next
Slot.
For more information, see “Smooth Sound Transitions” on
page 119 of the OG.
Transpose
[–12…+0…+12]
This sets the transposition of the current slot, in semitones.
If the
Transpose
setting is any value other than
+0
, the
transpose value is shown in the slot.
Slot Transpose works similarly to the Global Key Transpose
parameter (see “Key Transpose” on page 631).
If the Slot contains a Program, its Drum Track Program is
not affected by Transpose.
Similarly, if the Slot contains a Combination or Song, its
Timbres or Tracks are not affected by Transpose if both of
the following are true:
• The MIDI Channel is not the Global Channel,
and…
• The Program’s Category is “Drums,” except for the sub-
category “Pitched” (used for timpani, for instance)
Dynamics
[0...127]
This adjusts how the volume and tone will be changed in
response to how hard the keys are played (velocity) on this
keyboard.
Pressing the button to turn DYNAMICS ON (the button will
light) will enable the knob settings.
Turning the knob to the left will cause the sound to play
softer in response to how hard you play the keys.
This is good for playing highly inflected passages from
pianissimo (very soft) to fortissimo (very loud), such as solo
piano or in band ensembles.
Turning the knob to the right will cause the sound to play
louder in response to how hard you play the keys.
This is good for generally making your sound stand out
when playing backing parts in a band ensemble, or when
playing a solo.
The sound will not change when the knob is in center
position.
For layered and split sounds, the dynamics effect will be
applied to both sounds.
Note:
The effect controlled may differ, depending on the
Program. The dynamics will have no effect on Programs that
do not change in volume or tone with velocity, such as organ
sounds or some synth sounds.
Note:
The effect will be applied to the selected velocity
curve. For more information, see “Velocity Curve” on
page 632.
1–1b: Slot Select
Slot Select
[000…127]
The 128 Slots are shown either 4, 8, or 16 at a time,
depending on the selection at the top of the screen. To select
a slot, simply touch it. For more information, see “0–1d: Slot
Select” on page 561.
1–1c: Cut, Copy, Paste, and Insert
These buttons make it simple to re-arrange the Slots.
[---] (Multiple Slot selection tool)
This button allows you to select a range of slots. To use it:
1. Select the Slot at one end of the desired range of slots
(either the first or the last).
2. Press the [---] button.
Notice that the selected Slot now has a different highlight
color.
3. Select the Slot at the other end of the desired range.
Once the desired range is selected, use the
Cut/Copy/Paste/Insert buttons, as described below, to
operate on the Slots. The selected range is also used by the
Font and Color parameters.
Cut
This places the selected Slot(s) on the clipboard, removes
them from their position in the list, and moves the rest of the
list to fill in the now-empty space. Information about the cut
Slot(s) is displayed below the buttons.
Copy
This places a copy of the selected Slot(s) on the clipboard,
leaving the original(s) in place. Information about the copied
Slot(s) is displayed below the buttons.
Paste
This replaces the selected Slot(s) with the contents of the
clipboard. Paste is only available if Slots have already been
Cut or Copied.
Insert
This places the contents of the clipboard in front of the
selected Slot(s), moving the rest of the list to make room.
Insert is only available if Slots have already been Cut or
Copied.
