9.2.6 (Optional) Enabling RDI of a Section
Remote defect indication (RDI) helps a maintenance entity group end point (MEP) notify a
remote MEP (RMEP) of a fault. By default, RDI is enabled.
Context
If an MEP detects a fault, the RDI flag is set to 1 in continuity check messages (CCMs). The
MEP then sends the CCMs to the RMEP to notify it of the fault. After the fault is rectified, the
RDI flag is set to 0 in the CCMs to indicate that the fault is rectified.
RDI-disabled devices do not send alarms to the NMS. To allow an MEP to report an RDI alarm
to the network management system (NMS), run the
undo rdi disable
command on an MEP to
enable RDI.
Perform the following steps on an MEP:
Procedure
Step 1
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2
Run:
mpls-tp meg
meg-name
A maintenance entity group (MEG) is created and the MEG view is displayed.
Step 3
(Optional) Run:
undo rdi disable
RDI is enabled.
By default, RDI is enabled. To disable the MEP from reporting an RDI alarm to the NMS, run
the
rdi disable
command.

9.2.7 Checking the Configurations
After MPLS-TP OAM functions are configured for sections on an LSP, performance statistics
and fault detection information can be queried.
Prerequisites
MPLS-TP OAM functions for sections on an LSP have been configured.
