AIR-INVERTED
indicates an air-only cylinder, but the output is
turned ON to close the gun.
NOTE:
Selecting
AIR-ONLY
in the Cylinder Type setup parameters disables the
outputs associated with the air-over-oil cylinder. These outputs, control
the advance, intensify and blocking valves. They do
NOT
turn on when
the air-only cylinders are selected.
Air Over Oil Cylinders:
In an air-over-oil cylinder,
three
valves control the gun’s position: The
Advance, Intensify and Blocking valves.
•
Operating the
Advance
valve closes the gun under hydraulic
pressure. This allows a softer touch-down, to extend the life of the
gun shanks.
•
The
Intensify
valve adds welding pressure to the gun.
•
The
Blocking
valve can either allow oil to flow or inhibit oil flow.
Since this valve can be used to inhibit the flow of oil at any point in
the gun stroke, it allows for a variable gun opening.
NOTE:
Selecting
AIR-ONLY
in the
Cylinder Type
setup parameter disables
these valves. These outputs control the Advance, Intensify and Blocking
valves. They do
NOT
turn on when the air-only cylinders are selected.
The air-over-oil cylinder is identified as shown below in the Cylinder
Type setup parameter:
•
AIR/OIL–NO
tells the control that the weld gun uses an air-over-oil
cylinder with a normally-open (NO) blocking valve. The
BLOCKING VALVE output is energized (HIGH) to inhibit oil
flow.
•
AIR/OIL–NC
signifies that the cylinder is air-over-oil with a
normally-closed (NC) blocking valve. The BLOCKING VALVE
output is de-energized (LOW) to inhibit oil flow.
