Low Current
Limit
(See p. 5-3)
The current fired fell
below the limit pro-
grammed, either in
the setup parame-
ters or Function #76
in a schedule.
Limit is set too high.
Reprogram the limit in Function
#76.
Unusual condition in the
secondary.
Check the secondary. Look for
dirty material, bad kickless
cables or shunts, tip alignment,
loose connections or reduced
weld force due to hoses binding
in the weld gun tooling, faulty or
sticking solenoid valves or
slow-moving cylinders.
Incorrect measurement of the
primary current. (Since both
the weld processor and the
firing card are involved in cur-
rent measurement, certain
failures on one of these cards
may cause this fault to occur.)
Check for loose wiring at the J3
connector on the firing card.
Secure the cable that runs
between the firing card and the
processor. Check for bad con-
nector. Replace as necessary.
Control
Failed to Fire
The MFDC inverter
assembly failed to fire
for a half-cycle.
Faulty firing cable. (The
inverter did not receive the fir-
ing signal.)
Check the firing cable connec-
tor. Verify that it is secure.
Inverter fault occurred during
the weld, preventing it from
firing for the half-cycle.
Review the inverter fault condi-
tion and act accordingly.
Extend Weld
(See p. 5-5)
The control had to
restart the weld
schedule due to
insufficient secondary
current during a weld.
Low current limit is set too
high.
Re-program the Low Current
Limit setup parameter.
Unusual condition in the
secondary.
Check for improper part fit-up,
dirty material, worn electrodes,
bad kickless cables or shunts,
or loose connections in the
secondary circuit.
Incorrect measurement of the
primary current. (Both the
weld processor and the firing
card are involved in current
measurement. A failure on
one of these cards may cause
this fault to occur.)
Check for loose wiring at the J3
connector on the firing card.
Secure the cable that runs
between the firing card and the
processor. Check for bad con-
nector. Replace as necessary.
