Three timers control the action of the air-over-oil cylinder, and are
programmed in the setup parameters. The proper settings for these
timers may require some trial and error, because the timing will affect
the gun’s position.
These three timers are described below:
EXTEND SQZ FROM RETRACT #n (CY/2) (See page 5-
11.)
This parameter is the length of time to allow the gun to move from
the full retract to the full closed position, as shown below:
This allows the control to fire a weld schedule from the full retract
position. This setup parameter is added to the time programmed in
the function TURN ON ADVANCE VALVE #n in the weld
sequence.
Caution:
This timer controls the gun’s position BEFORE the
Intensify valve is turned on. If this timer is set too low,
the gun may not close fully. In addition, the gun may
close but fail to return to the full open position,
depending on the amount of squeeze in the TURN ON
ADVANCE VALVE function. This will decrease any
gap opening that is used further down the line.
