A.1.1 Specific warnings
The following warnings (both symbols and text) can appear in the user manuals of
particular instruments and devices and on labels affixed to them or their component
parts.

Burst warning
This warning applies to Waters instruments and devices fitted with nonmetallic tubing.

(Risk of exposure to a toxic substance.)

(Risk of personal exposure to laser radiation.)
Warning:
(Risk of exposure to biological agents that can pose a serious health
threat.)

(Risk of high-pressure gas release.)
Warning:
To avoid injury from bursting, nonmetallic tubing, heed these
precautions when working in the vicinity of such tubing when it is pressurized:
• Wear eye protection.
• Extinguish all nearby flames.
• Do not use tubing that is, or has been, stressed or kinked.
• Do not expose nonmetallic tubing to compounds with which it is chemically
incompatible: tetrahydrofuran, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid, for example.
• Be aware that some compounds, like methylene chloride and dimethyl
sulfoxide, can cause nonmetallic tubing to swell, significantly reducing the
pressure at which the tubing can rupture.
