Select “Disable” in the selection box to disable
802.1x authentication on the switch.
Enable
Select “Enable” in the selection box to enable 802.1x
authentication on the switch.
Note
802.1x Authentication
You must first enable 802.1x
authentication on the switch before
you can configure this function for
individual ports.
Authentication Method
Local
Select “Local” in the selection box to use the
“Guest” and “User” user groups from the user
account database on the switch for authentication.
However, the number of node that can exist at the
same time is limited.
Radius
Select “Radius” in the selection box to enable the
security protocol that uses an external server for user
authentication in contrast to the internal user
database in devices with limited storage.
In general, “Radius” allows validation of an
unlimited number of users from a central location.
Guest VLAN
This field is used to configure the VLAN ID.
Primary
Radius
Server
If you select “Radius” for the authentication method,
the primary RADIUS server is used for all
authentication requests.
IP:
In the input field, enter the IP address of the external
RADIUS server in decimal-point notation.
UDP Port:
Enter the UDP port in the input field.
Shared Key:
Enter a password (up to 32 alphanumeric characters)
in the input field to use as the common key for the
connection between the external RADIUS server and
the switch.
This key may not be sent over the network. The key
must be identical on the external RADIUS server
and the switch.
