Expanding Your System
●
To remove a language from the system:
1.
Perform the “System Shutdown” procedure described in Section 10.1, “Shutting Down
the System for Upgrading”, on page 10-1.
2.
If a port expansion card is already installed in the expansion card slot, remove it now
(removal instructions are provided under bullet “To remove an expansion card:”, on
page 10-7).
3.
Hold the eraser card so that the labeled side faces toward you.
4.
Slide the eraser card into the expansion card slot at the top of Office PhoneMail right
side (see the illustration on Figure 10-1 on page 10-4).
5.
Turn on the Office PhoneMail system by re-inserting the power cord.
6.
Press the Software Load/Diagnostic button to begin the language removal process.
7.
Remove power from Office PhoneMail by unplugging the power cord.
8.
Remove the language eraser card from the expansion card slot.
9.
Insert the new desired language card and follow the instructions in Section 10.5 to load
a new language.
10. If Office PhoneMail previously had a port expansion card installed in the expansion
card slot, reinstall that card now.
Caution
Office PhoneMail must be turned off during installation of the eraser card. If you in-
sert the card into the system while it is operating, Office PhoneMail will either ignore
the card or immediately stop working.
The status indicator will begin to blink on and off in the Cadence 3 pattern described
in Appendix E, “Status Indicator Cadences.” This cadence indicates that the system
is waiting to begin to remove the language.
The status indicator will begin to blink on and off in the Cadence 1 pattern described
in Appendix E, “Status Indicator Cadences.” This cadence indicates that the system
is removing the language.
After approximately two minutes, the LED status indicator should begin to blink in the
Cadence 7 pattern described in Appendix E, “Status Indicator Cadences”. This ca-
dence indicates that the language has been removed successfully.
Note that while in the “Language Erasure Completed” state, the system is not oper-
ational. To return the system to normal operation, the card must be removed and the
system powered back on.
