Retro Installation:
1. Base Setup (Boot and Operation detail page 4.
2. Power the GPS Module using the wire harness provided and 12VDC battery.
3. Connect red wire to the positive terminal and the black wire to the negative terminal.
4. Watching the LED lights the following should occur in sequence:
a. GPS data light illuminates and flickers.
b. Base, Move and Reverse LED blink 3 times.
c. Data out LED flashes 3 times.
5. Press and hold the Push Button until the Base LED illuminates (about 5 seconds).
6. The Module must obtain more that 3 satellites (Sats>3) and HDOP = 1.5 or lower to turn on the Move LED
allowing for base setup data points to be taken.
7. Setup is complete when the Base and Move LED’s turn off.
8. Recheck the board in 10 minutes; If all of the LED’s are flashing except 2 then the base setup routine needs
to be repeated. Go back to Step 5.
Post Enclosure Installation:
1. Mount the GPS Post Enclosure using the two #6-32 screws and locknuts. Insert the screws
through the existing holes above the radio (i.e. where the current sensor used to be mounted).
Point the screws outward from the unit as shown to the right.
2.Install 3 lock support standoffs in the GPS unit also shown at right.
3. Place the GPS Module on the mount using the standoffs installed.
4. Install the 6 Position connector to J1 (located next to the push button.
5. Connect the 4 position connector to Aux J12 on the RTU board.
(located between the radio and the battery connector)
6. Insert the white wire into any black terminals available on the
digital inputs on the RTU board.
7. Install Tap Connector (P/N 110580) on the GPS Module; (see print for placement)
ensuring the notch in the connector is over the red wire and before the split or wyes in
red wire. Place the red wire from GPS cable in the connector hole making sure no bare wire is showing
before inserting the red wire. Then crimp the green tab on the connector to make an electrical connection.
