Changing Printer Ribbons
The printer ribbon is a roll of dye-coated mylar that rests in a
plastic ribbon cassette. Three types of ribbons are available:
◆
Cyan, magenta, yellow (CMY)
◆
Cyan, magenta, yellow, black (CMYK)
◆
Monochrome (Continuous black)
The multicolored ribbons contain sets of individual bands of
dye that print in successive passes; yellow prints first, then
magenta, then cyan. If you are using four-color ribbon, the black
band prints last.
Monochrome ribbon is one continuous band of black dye, so
monochrome output prints in one pass. Consequently, printing
your drafts in monochrome mode saves time when printing.
