G - TROUBLESHOOTING
Planmeca Proline CC panoramic x-ray G-5
Technical Manual
Reasons for blow:
- End stage FET´s defective
- Continuous overload or short circuit on the board.
- Bad fuse or wrong rating
Indication:
Er 30 or Er31 at beginning of exposure.Fuse blow during exposure gives
Er 11, and next trial to make an exposure will give Er30 or Er 31.
Analysis:
Replace fuse and try an exposure. If it blows again the power generator is
defective.
Tube power generator board fuse F7
Location:
On the circuit board near C17.
Description:
5 x 20 mm glass tube fuse. Rated 4 A SLOW BLOW.
Function:
Protects the X-Ray tube filament against over current.
Reasons for blow:
- Filament power supply defective.
- Bad fuse or wrong rating
Indication:
ER 32 at beginning of exposure.
Analysis:
Replace fuse and try an exposure. If it blows again the power generator is
defective.

EQUIPMENT COMPLETELY DEAD
If the equipment cannot be started at all the following steps must be taken to locate and repair
the equipment.
4.1
Check the mains outlet voltage to be within limits. (±10% of nominal voltage)
a)
Check the main fuses near the mains switch below the lower fixed part. If the fuses were OK take
step 4, if not take step 3.
b)
Replace the fuses only with fuses of the same rating. With power off open the lid on top of the
upper fixed part and detach connector P3 from the low voltage power supply board. If fuses hold
take step 4, if not there is a short circuit in the mains wiring from mains switch to the filter in upper
fixed part, in the mains wiring from the filter to the loose connector P3 or the mains filter is
defective.
c)
With power off open the lid on top of the upper fixed part if it was not already open, connect
connector P3 if it was taken off. If the fuse F3 was blown, it could be a result from an occasional
overvoltage in the mains. To check this replace the fuse and power on. If everything operates
normally this was the case, if the fuse blows again detach connectors P1, P2, P4 and P5. Check
all the fuses on the low voltage power supply board and replace if necessary with fuses of the
same rating. If the fuses hold take step 5, if not replace the low voltage power supply board.
Check that the primary voltage setting is the same.
d)
Connect connector P2 while powered off. If the fuses hold when powered on take step 6. If not,
there is a short circuit to the protective earth in the mains wiring from this board to the tube power
generator board or on the tube power generator board itself. If the relay K2 on the low voltage
power supply board is inoperative and is connecting all the time the board must be replaced but
there is also a short circuit between the mains live wires from this board to the tube power
generator board or on the tube power generator board itself. Open the bottom cover of the
rotating part and detach the tube power generator board connector P1. If fault remains, replace
the cable harness. If not, replace the tube power generator board.
e)
With power on measure the voltage across GND and +VCC labeled connector pins on either
connector P1 or P4. If it is within 30 - 39 VDC, take step 7, otherwise replace the low voltage
power supply board. Check that the primary voltage setting is the same.
