Directory Numbers
All directory numbers are associated with a Group number (Primary DN) in a Centrex ACD environment.
Thus each event message is identified by a PDN/PDN or PDN/SDN combination. If a new ACD Group is
added to the DMS-100 configuration, all events prefixed by the unknown PDN are stored as “unknown”
by the ACD MIS until initialization data from the DMS-100 provides a default Group Name and other
subgroup/agent position parameters.
The design of the VU-ACD/100 ACD MIS assumes that PDNs and SDNs will not be frequently
reassigned. In Centrex ACD applications calls are normally redirected via queuing and routing functions.
These functions offer greater latitude in tracking and handling the call. Reassigning DNs creates
immense problems for the ACD MIS when tracking and reporting call events.
Adding or removing an SDN to an existing ACD Group (PDN) is readily accomplished and does not
require DMS reinitialization. However, if an SDN is reassigned, VU-ACD/100 will not recognize the
change until initialization data is received. Reassigned SDN data will be stored as unknown data until
the initialization data is received.
Moving an SDN from one ACD Group to another will complicate the reporting of historical data,
especially in “bucket” reports which depend on the Time Value For Archive Data entries made for
individual ACD Groups. For example, if an SDN has been storing data (call counts) for 20-, 40- and 60-
second intervals and is moved to an ACD Group utilizing 30-, 60- and 90-second intervals, the differing
call counts cannot be reconciled. If you must reassign an SDN, be sure the source and target ACD
groups have identical interval settings in the Time Value For Archive Data screen.
