When You Receive a Message
While the FOMA terminal is within signal range, Message Request and Message Free are automatically sent to the
FOMA terminal from the i-mode Center.
●
The FOMA terminal will save up to 100 received Message Request and Message Free respectively. However, the
number that can actually be saved varies between 20 and 100 for Message Request and between 10 and 100 for
Message Free depending on the amount of data in each saved message.
●
You can set your own choice of ring tone for incoming Message Request and Message Free in “Select ring tone”
(P. 114) and vary the flashing pattern used by the call alert indicator in “Illumination” (P. 133).
Displaying New Messages
●
To prevent the FOMA terminal from automatically displaying new messages when they arrive, select “OFF” in “Message
auto display” (P. 226).
The
(Green) or
(Purple) icon flashes and the “Message Request Receiving” or
“Message Free Receiving” message is displayed.
•
Once reception is finished, the icon stops flashing and remains displayed.
•
To stop reception while a message is being received, hold down
t
for 1 second
or longer. Note that depending on the timing of the cancellation, you may still receive
the message.
•
Once reception is finished, the numbers of each type of mail and Message Request/
Free received are displayed in the reception results display for roughly 15 seconds.
You can change the display period using “Mail/Msg. ring time” (P. 118).
•
To view the Message Request list display or Message Free list display, select
“Message Request” or “Message Free” and press
d
.
•
If you have received a message while the FOMA terminal is in stand-by mode, the
contents of the received Message Request or Message Free are displayed for
roughly 15 seconds. However, if the stand-by display was retrieved from the Task
menu while any of the menu functions was being used, messages are not
automatically displayed.
Message Requests or Message Frees are not displayed automatically if they are
received when the Stand-by display is not displayed.
•
If you use operations such as scrolling while a Message Request or Message Free
is displayed, the contents of the message continue to be displayed.
•
If none of the FOMA terminal keys are used for 15 seconds, the stand-by display
reappears.
■
If you disable automatic display
This enables you to continue using the FOMA terminal without being interrupted by a message reception display when a
Message Request or Message Free is received. You are notified that a Message Request or Message Free has been received by
the
(Green) or
(Purple) icon but there is no ring tone, call alert indicator display, vibration or flashing backlight.
