3.2.7 Image Trigger (IMG TRIG) Setting
In the VIEW mode, you can set the IMG TRIG from the VIEW MENU on the J-PAD3.
Image trigger is a function to activate as a trigger when the luminance is changed in the area specified in
AOI. However, the image trigger is not activated in case of the gradual luminance change, such as, weather
change. In addition, it monitors the luminance level at 7.5Hz (NTSC mode) or 6.25Hz (PAL mode). So, it
may not be activated in case of a short duration of luminance change, such as, a flash of 0.2sec or less.
When using the image trigger mode, you should set AOI (see 3.2.6) and an image trigger level.
In the VIEW mode, you can set an image trigger level by J-PAD3, as follows.
1) In the VIEW mode, press MENU
to enter the VIEW
MENU.
2) Select "IMAG TRIG" from the VIEW MENU using the
up/down keys
.
(
Figure 3-19
)
3) Use the left/right keys
to select the image trigger
level.
OFF
Image trigger is off.
LOW
Insensitive: The trigger is activated by large
change of luminosity.
MID
Standard: The trigger is activated by medium
change of luminosity.
HIGH Sensitive:
The
trigger
is activated by small change
of luminosity.
If the image trigger level is not suitable for the recording condition, the trigger is activated unexpectedly
[A] or is not activated as per your expectation [B]. Please try test recordings before the actual test, to
check the image trigger level. Following is reference to find a suitable image trigger level.

LOW
・
Recording under flickering
environment such as under a
fluorescence
・
Recording in case of small
luminance change [B]
MID
・
Recording in case of
luminance change entirely in
AOI, such as an explosion
・
Recording if size of a
subject crossing AOI is not
sufficient against AOI. [B]
・
Recording under
flickering environment
such as under a
fluorescence. [A]
HIGH
・
Recording if a subject will cross
in AOI
・
Recording if there will be a
moving object in AOI other
than a subject [A]
You cannot use IMG TRIG mode and AE mode simultaneously. If
you will set IMG TRIG mode while AE mode is activated, a warning
message will be displayed as shown in Fig. 3-20.
Press the SET key
to switch from AE mode to IMG TRIG
mode.
