Touch the icon to show information about the specific
limitations encountered. Note that these limitations do not
prevent the creation of the split or layer sound; they just
mean that one or the other of the sounds may not be quite the
same when played in the new Combination.
• “There is not enough empty slot to copy Layer’s IFX.”
• “There is not enough empty slot to copy
Lower’s/Upper’s IFX.”
This message appears if the insert effect settings of the
split/layer Program are not copied because there are not
enough insert effect slots.
• “Main’s active T# was replaced for Layer.”
• “Main’s active T# was replaced for Split.”
• “Main’s active T was replaced for Drum Track.”
These messages appear if there are not enough unused
Timbres in the Main Combination, and lists the Timbres that
were replaced.
Global MIDI Channel
When using Quick Layer in COMBINATION mode, we
recommend that the Global MIDI Channel (GLOBAL >
MIDI– MIDI) be set to Channel 1. Otherwise, Quick Layer
may not work as expected.
Keyboard and Zone Graphics
The graphic at the top of the window shows the keyboard
zones of the two sounds. The Layer Program’s note range is
shown in yellow, and the Main Combination’s note range is
shown in light blue.
The keyboard graphic shows notes as they are played on the
physical keyboard.
LAYER PROG
Layer Program Select
[List of Programs]
This selects the Program that is layered onto the main
Combination.
Use the “Bank/Program Select”, “Category/Program Select”
and “Find” functions to search for banks, categories and
keywords.
Note:
This automatically searches for timbres not used by
the main Combination to set the Layer Programs. Note that if
the main Combination does not use all 16 timbres, timbre 16
is set as the Layer Program. For this reason, the main
Combination will not sound exactly the same.
Note:
Selecting the Layer Program will automatically copy
the Layer Program’s insert effects. In the same way, the
“Send1” and “Send2” values will be copied to the master
effect. However, the values will not be copied if there are not
enough insert effects available.
For the master and total effects, the main Combination
settings are copied. Because of this, the Layer Program will
not sound the same in PROGRAM mode.
The message “>Caution” is shown if there are not enough
insert effect slots or Combination timbres. Touch this to
open the Quick Layer/Split Caution message, and check
which items are insufficient. For more information, see
“Caution messages” on page 384.
Category image
[graphic]
This display-only graphic represents the category or sub-

This adjusts the pitch of the Layer Program in 1-octave units.
Internally, the

Zone
[Off, Lower, Upper]
This limits the region in which the layer Program produces
sound.
Off
: No limit. The Program will produce sound across the
entire range of the keyboard.
Lower
: Only the lower notes produce sound.
Upper
: Only the upper notes produce sound.
