5.7. Output Hopper
The scanners of the H12 type are equipped with one or
two Output Hoppers. Each Output Hopper allows in its
Output Tray a stack height of up to 13 cm, thus offers
30% more space than the Input Hopper(s). This is neces-
sary since the stack of scanned documents is generally
significantly looser than it was in the Input Tray. At the
beginning of the scan process, the empty Output Tray
initialise to its uppermost position and successively de-
scends during scan. This is either controlled through the
sensor system of an optional
HighSpeed Stacker Arm
( see chapter 5.7.2. ) or
by using the built-in
Stack Height Sensor
, which will automatically detect
the top edge of the output pile. If the maximum stack height of an Output
Hopper is reached, the scan will stop automatically and you will see an
error message on the screen of the scanner (see chapter 9.2.6. ).
In addition to the Output Hoppers, the device also has a Rear Output Tray (see chapter 5.7.6. ).
5.7.1. Setting Options Output Hopper
Just as the Input Hopper (see chapter 5.4.2. ) every Output
Hopper has lateral Paper Guides that can be manually
adjusted to the width of the documents to be processed.
In contrast to Input Hoppers these two Paper Guides are,
however, not connected and are set completely inde-
pendently. Each Output Tray has a scale identical to the
scale of the Input Hopper, based on which the positio-
ning of the Output Paper Guides can be made easier.
The information of various standard formats facilitates
this setting.
A Document Stop is mounted on the tray plate which
can be set manually to the length of the documents
to be processed. Besides its primary purpose of stop-
ping ejected documents at the end of the output tray,
the Document Stop also functions as a dark reference
surface for the built-in Stack Height Sensor. Without
this reference surface, correct operation of the Stack
Height Sensor cannot be guaranteed. If the paper for-
mat exceeds the length of the tray plate, the middle
part can be pulled out in order to accommodate do-
cuments up to a length of 42 cm. For documents even
longer than this, the middle section can be replaced
with an optional, longer version ( Order No. t8xxz300 ),
which will allow proper output of documents of up to
60 cm in length.
