Installing the system board
To install the system board, complete the following steps:
1. Position the system board so that it is aligned with the slots in the computer
chassis; then, slide the system board toward the rear of the computer until it
locks securely into place.
2. Install the seven screws that secure the system board (see Figure 55).
3. Install the memory modules (see “Installing a DIMM” on page 90).
4. Install the microprocessor and heat sink (see “Installing the microprocessor
and heat sink” on page 115).
5. Install the mini-PCI adapter, if one was removed (see “Installing a mini-PCI
adapter” on page 107).
6. Install any adapters (see “Installing an adapter” on page 87) and reconnect
any cables that were removed or disconnected.
7. Reinstall the drive cage (see Figure 26 on page 91).
a. Place the drive cage into position and slide it forward to engage the upper
clips.
b. Tighten the thumbscrew at the rear of the drive cage.
c. Reconnect the power cables to the drives in the cage if any were
disconnected.
8. Install the air baffle onto the microprocessor fan assembly (see “Installing the
microprocessor fan assembly” on page 83).
9. Install the hard disk drive bracket, if one was removed (see “Installing the hard
disk drive bracket” on page 97).
10. Install the side cover (see “Installing the side cover” on page 76).
11. Reconnect the external cables and power cords; then, turn on the attached
devices and the computer.
