an
adapter
Note:
This
section
describes
the
removal
of
adapters
in
PCI
slots
1
through
4
on
the
system
board.
See
for
information
about
removing
a
mini-PCI
adapter
from
the
mini-PCI
connector
on
the
system
board.
To
remove
an
adapter,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Read
the
safety
information
that
begins
on
page
and
2.
Turn
off
the
computer
and
all
attached
devices;
then,
disconnect
all
external
cables
and
power
cords.
3.
Remove
the
side
cover
(see
4.
Remove
the
hard
disk
drive
bracket,
if
one
is
installed
(see
5.
Locate
the
slot
containing
the
adapter
to
be
removed.
See
for
an
illustration
of
the
adapter
slot
locations.
6.
Disconnect
any
cables
to
the
adapter
or
any
cables
that
impede
access
to
the
adapter.
7.
For
full-length
adapters,
rotate
the
front
adapter-retention
bracket
to
the
fully
open
(unlocked)
position
