Removing the power supply
When you remove or install a power supply, observe the following precautions.
Statement 8:
CAUTION:
Never remove the cover on a power supply or any part that has the following
label attached.
Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are present inside any
component that has this label attached. There are no serviceable parts inside
these components. If you suspect a problem with one of these parts, contact
a service technician.
To remove the power supply, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 73.
2. Turn off the computer and all attached devices; then, disconnect all external
cables and power cords.
3. Remove the side cover (see “Removing the side cover” on page 75).
4. Remove the hard disk drive bracket, if one is installed (see “Removing the hard
disk drive bracket” on page 95).
Note: It might be helpful to lay the computer on its left side for the remainder of
this procedure.
5. Disconnect the cables from the power supply to the system board and all
internal components.
6. Remove the power-supply retaining screws from the rear of the computer (see
Figure 52 on page 119).
