2. Touch the static-protective package containing the new drive to any unpainted
metal surface on the computer; then, remove the drive from the package and
place it on a static-protective surface.
3. Follow the instructions that come with the drive to set jumpers, switches, or
SCSI ID, if any.
4. To insert the drive, use one of the following procedures (see Figure 35):

For a diskette drive in bay 3, Install the blue drive retainer clip into the screw
holes on the side of the drive; then, push the drive into the front of the bay
until it clicks into place.
v For a hard disk drive in bay 3, push the drive into the rear of the bay; then,
install the two screws through the side of the drive cage.
v
For a hard disk drive in bay 4, install the hard disk drive tray onto the drive;
then, push the drive into the rear of the bay until it clicks into place and
tighten the thumbscrew on the side of the drive cage.
5. Reconnect the cables to the drive.
Note: Route the signal cable so that it does not block the airflow to the rear of
the drives or over the microprocessor.
6. Install the hard disk drive bracket, if one was removed (see “Installing the hard
disk drive bracket” on page 97).
7. Install the bezel, if it was removed (see “Installing the bezel” on page 78).
