Control Codes
17.Variable Line Feed: ESC %5 n1, n2 (X
'
1B 25 35 n1 n2
'
)
Line feeds a number specified by n1 and n2. If it follows the print data,
the printer starts printing. The range of X
'
n1n2
'
is from X
'
0001
'
to
X
'
00FF
'
. The line feed is 0.21 mm (1/120 inch) times X
'
n1n2
'
.
18.Set Carriage Return: ESC %6 n1, n2 (X
'
1B 25 36 n1 n2
'
)
Moves the print position to X
'
n1n2
'
dot position based from the first
print position. If it follows print data, the printer starts printing. If the
succeeding data on the same line is received, it is written over the data
already in the print buffer.
In the next printing only, printing starts from the position specified by this
control code. The first print position does not change.
The range of X
'
n1n2
'
is from X
'
0001
'
to X
'
0948
'
when the MPP is set
to 13.2 inches. The range of X
'
n1n2
'
is from X
'
0001
'
to X
'
0990
'
when the MPP is set to 13.6 inches.
19.Variable Reverse Line Feed: ESC %8 n1, n2 (X
'
1B 25 38 n1 n2
'
)
Reverse line feeds the sheet by 0.21 mm (1/120 inch) as one unit. If it
follows print data, the printer starts printing.
X
'
The range of n1n2
'
is from X
'
0001
'
to X
'
0028
'
. The range of the
reverse line feed is 0.2 mm (1/120 inch) to 8.47 mm (1/3 inch).
The total reverse line feed cannot exceed 8.47 mm (1/3 inch) in per
page. If the print position reaches the TOF, printing stops.
20.Set Line Feed: ESC %9 n1, n2 (X
'
1B 25 39 n1 n2
'
)
Sets the line pitch by n1 and n2 using 0.21 mm (1/120 inch) as one unit.
The range of X
'
n1n2
'
is from X
'
0001
'
to X
'
003C
'
. Thus the range
setting of a line feed is from 0.21 mm (1/120 inch) to 12.7 mm (60/120
inch).
If this code is received at the beginning of a print line, the new move-
ment distance applies to this and succeeding lines. If this code is
received at the middle or the end of a print line, the new movement dis-
tance applies to the next and succeeding lines. This code also affects
the line feed carried out by the line feed switch.
Note: The function of this control code is the same as that of ESX 03
00 01 n (line feed pitch setting) with the exception that the values that
can be set are different.
21.Set Bi-directional Printing Mode: ESC %B (X
'
1B 25 42
'
)
Sets the bi-directional printing mode. Mode switching is done by a line
as a unit. If this control code is included in the printing data, the line
including the control code and the following lines are printed bi-
directionally.
Note: This code is ignored if a speed other than normal speed is
selected during initialization or by using operation switches on the
control panel.
