1.3 Connecting to the Host System
Procedures are different for connecting to an AS/400 system and connecting to a
PC. The default format is for connecting to an AS/400 system. To connect to a
PC, see 1-26.
The IBM 5400-006 printer has a DC outlet on the interface panel. The DC outlet
can be used for a LAN adapter connected to the parallel port. For more informa-
tion, see Appendix E, “DC 12V Outlet” on page E-1.

1.3.1 Connecting to an AS/400 System
Set the IBM 5400-006 printer address and connect the interface cable.
Interface Cable
The interface cable is sold separately.
For more information, see 5.1.4, “Cables” on page 5-3.
Setting the Address
Set the address using a value from 0 to 6.
Ask the host system manager for the value. The default is 0.

Connect the power cord to an outlet and set the power switch to the (

) side.
Power comes on . (See 2.3.1, “Powering On” on page 2-9.)
